Creative Grief Workshop

If you're looking for new ways to think about and feel your way through your grief OR are seeking ideas for helping another who is grieving, consider attending our workshop!

We, Joanne Zerdy & Will Daddario, are educators with backgrounds in the performing arts, literature, and philosophy. We are also bereaved parents, open & active grievers who continue on our healing journey by working with others walking their own paths.

In our workshop, you will meet other open-hearted grievers and supporters. Together we will participate in a tea-drinking meditation and then create individual grief maps to help us see our grief worlds. Group discussion and individual journaling will enable us to process our insights, questions, and observations. Following that, we'll get up on our feet, moving our bodies to help us bring awareness to the stories and memories we carry as well as the challenges of navigating as a grieving person in society. Additionally, we will discuss some herbal supports -- or botanical allies -- well known for their ability to help us move through grief and to strengthen our hearts.

We hope that you will leave our workshop with new ways of thinking, feeling, and finding your way through your own grief journey and/or for helping others process their experiences. And we hope that you will feel more connected to the community of grievers in and around Asheville!

Workshop Price: $50-75 (Sliding Scale)

Class: Herbs and Grief

**Please Note -- The date & time of this class has changed from its original scheduling -- it is now on Sunday, Feb 11 from 3-5pm**

Come learn about the specific ways in which herbs can support you in your practice of grieving or in your work helping another to heal. From the heart-opening capacity of hawthorn to the multi-dimensional healing & strengthening power of rose, herbal remedies can become some of our strongest allies during tough times. They can lift us up and help us to keep going!

Joanne Zerdy will focus on how we can strengthen our cardiovascular and nervous systems and discuss ideas for bolstering our overall health with nutritive herbs. She'll describe a handful of botanical wonders that she has found especially helpful during her own grief journey of 3+ years. These are also plants that have piqued her interest during her herbal studies with the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine. We'll talk about the herbs' powers to affect our emotional-physical states - and everyone will have an opportunity to share their experience with these horticultural helpers.

In addition to tasting some preparations of these herbs in the form of infusions, tinctures, glycerites, and more, you'll receive recipe ideas for experimenting with these herbs on your own at home.

TO REGISTER: send an email to grow@invitingabundance.net

Cost: (Sliding Scale) $20-$30

Men's Grief Intensive

Men's Grief Intensive

The social need for men to work through their grief has perhaps never been greater. Come do the work for yourself, for your family, and for the wider society in which we all live.

This three-hour workshop will utilize physical activities to prompt reflection. We won’t sit around and talk. Instead, we’ll do something much harder: we’ll tap into our bodily knowledge and work together to process what we discover. Will Daddario is leading this event. Will is a grieving father and son who has published on the poetics of grief and has designed and facilitated workshops on creative grief with his wife & partner, Joanne Zerdy.

TO REGISTER: send an email to grow@invitingabundance.net

Cost: (Sliding Scale) $30-$50

**If this cost is prohibitive, please email and let us know your situation. We will likely be able to work something out**
