Grief, Goddamn!

Grief Worker, Priya Jay

The title of this episode draws inspiration from Nina Simone’s song, “Mississippi, Goddamn!”, the fire of which fuels Priya and Will as they think about intersections of grief, race, gender, oppression, and joy. We consider this episode a follow-up to our participation on the London School of Economics panel dedicated to grief during which several audience questions never got voiced. Along with Nina Simone, we also listen carefully to Jay Bernard and bell hooks in order to honor the existence of grief spaces that are usually occluded by dominant narratives on Grief.
