This is a 4-week Series of a Local Reading Group that will be facilitated by Joanne Zerdy and Will Daddario. This reading group will take place in partnership with Said Osio of third messenger.

Our Embodied Reading Group will explore David Grossman's poetic book Falling Out Of Time (2014). The book is an expression of grief, an artful working through of the devastating loss of a child. Grossman gathers together individual stories of loss within a fictitious landscape to begin imagining a community-wide recognition of grief.

Close-reading, structured activities, and facilitated conversations will help participants register the book's ideas on a bodily (somatic) level while also developing a vocabulary to talk with other about grief loss and death.

Time: 5-7pm —— Dates: Sat, Feb 19; Sat, Feb 16; Sat, Feb 23; Sat, March 2

The criteria for joining the group is a willingness to purchase the book or find it in a library, to read it, to engage in conversations respectfully, and to commit to meeting for all four dates. You need not have experienced the death of a child in order to engage. We are seeking people who are interested in engaging with life, death, grief, and healing. Participants are also asked for a donation to support THE BLOCK off biltmore.
